Welding Booth vs Welding Curtains

Both contain sparks and UV, but the right choice depends on your shop layout, compliance requirements, and how often stations move.

ModPro Welding Booth

Best for permanent stations and OSHA compliance

  • Full enclosure with walls, roof, and door
  • Steel or Tuffak panel options
  • Blocks UV, sparks, noise, and fumes at the source
  • Modular: reconfigure or expand without new purchases
  • Single, side-by-side, and back-to-back layouts
  • Meets OSHA 1910.252 and AWS Z49.1 requirements

Welding Curtains

Best for temporary or shared-space setups

  • Lower upfront cost per station
  • Easy to move between jobs or areas
  • No floor anchoring required
  • Blocks UV flash for nearby workers
  • Works for low-volume or intermittent welding
  • Does not contain fumes, noise, or overhead sparks

Frequently Asked Questions

ModPro Welding Booths FAQ

Yes. Every panel, door, window, and connector in the ModPro system is individually replaceable. If a wall panel takes heavy spatter damage or a Tuffak panel gets cracked, you order just that one panel. You do not need to replace the entire booth. This is one of the main advantages of a modular system over welded or riveted booth enclosures.

Start with your welding table size and add at least 2 feet on each side for the welder to move comfortably. A 4×4 or 5×5 booth works for bench welding and small parts. A 6×8 or 8×8 fits a standard welding table with room for a cart and gas bottle. For large weldments, pipe work, or production cells, 8×12, 10×10, or larger gives the floor space needed. If you are unsure, go one size up. The modular design lets you reconfigure later, but starting with enough room avoids the hassle.

Booths ship flat-packed on pallets. Each panel is labeled and the hardware is included. Assembly is bolt-together with no welding required. A single booth can typically be assembled by two people in 2 to 4 hours depending on size. The modular design means you can disassemble, relocate, or reconfigure the booth later without damaging any components.

ModPro booths are designed to meet OSHA 1910.252 requirements for welding station containment and AWS Z49.1 safety guidelines. The full enclosure (walls, roof, and door) contains sparks, UV flash, and airborne particulates at the source. For shops that need to demonstrate compliance during inspections, a fully enclosed booth is more straightforward than curtain-based setups, which may not satisfy all requirements depending on your local interpretation of the standards.

Yes. The ModPro system supports side-by-side and back-to-back configurations where adjacent booths share a common wall panel. This reduces material cost per station and simplifies installation. Side-by-side booths share one long wall. Back-to-back booths share one rear wall. You can combine both arrangements in the same row. The configurator on this page lets you select your layout type and quantity to see pricing and the exact product list.

Steel panels are solid 18-gauge steel sheet. They block all light, sparks, and UV, and they handle direct contact with grinding sparks and spatter without damage. Tuffak panels are made from polycarbonate (GE Tuffak brand), which is impact-resistant, translucent, and lets diffused light into the booth while still blocking UV. Tuffak booths improve visibility for supervisors and reduce the enclosed feeling for welders. Steel panels cost less per booth. Tuffak adds roughly 00 to 00 depending on booth size.
