Buying Guide

Modular Welding Table vs Standard Welding Table

Choosing between a modular welding table system and a standard one-piece table depends on how your shop works and how your needs may change.

Modular Welding Table

Best for growing shops and flexible layouts

  • Bolt together 30" to 140"+ in any combination
  • Add panels as your shop grows
  • 10" extensions or 20" standalone panels
  • Ships compact, assembles on site
  • Same 5/8" hole pattern across all panels
  • Mix widths for custom table shapes

Standard Welding Table

Best for permanent, heavy-duty workstations

  • Maximum mass and rigidity in one piece
  • No assembly required
  • Full sidewalls for jig mounting
  • Surface flatness held in thousandths
  • Ideal for permanent shop placement
  • Sizes from 30x40 to 50x100+

Frequently Asked Questions

Mod Blox Modular Welding Tables FAQ

A modular welding table is the better choice when your needs may change over time, when space is tight, or when you want to start small and expand later. The modular system lets you reconfigure your workspace as projects change. A standard welding table is better when you need maximum rigidity in a permanent setup and surface flatness held to thousandths of an inch.

Yes. Modular welding table panels use the same 5/8″ hole pattern on 2″ centers found on standard welding and fixturing tables. Clamps, stops, fixtures, and any accessory designed for 5/8″ holes will work with these panels.

Yes. There is no maximum configuration size for a modular welding table. Bolt together as many panels as you need in any arrangement. Mix 10″ and 20″ widths to create L-shapes, T-shapes, or long straight runs. Every panel shares the same hole pattern, so they align and connect with standard hardware.

All modular welding table panels are precision laser-cut from 1/4″ A572-50 structural steel. This is the same high-strength, low-alloy steel used in standard welding tables. The 5/8″ holes are cut on 2″ centers across every panel for consistent accessory and fixture compatibility.

Modular welding table leg kits come in two sizes. The Short Leg Kit adjusts from approximately 25″ to 34″ (29″ to 38″ with casters). The Long Leg Kit adjusts from approximately 35″ to 44″ (39″ to 48″ with casters). Both kits include leveling feet, with optional caster upgrades available.

A 10″ modular welding table extension panel needs one leg per end (2 legs total). A 20″ standalone panel supports up to two legs per end (4 legs total). Legs are sold individually, so you can order exactly the number you need for your configuration.

Yes. Any welding table with a 5/8″ hole pattern on 2″ centers is compatible with modular welding table panels. Bolt a 10″ extension panel to the side of your current table for added workspace, or connect a 20″ panel to extend your work surface in any direction.

The 10″ panels are extension panels designed to mount onto an existing welding table or bolt alongside other modular welding table panels. They are too narrow to stand alone and require one leg per end. The 20″ panels are full-width standalone panels that can function as independent work surfaces with two legs per end, or bolt together with other panels for larger configurations.

A modular welding table is a bolt-together system of steel panels that lets you build any size work surface. Each panel is precision laser-cut from 1/4″ A572-50 steel with 5/8″ holes on 2″ centers. Panels bolt together using standard hardware, so you can combine 10″ extension panels and 20″ standalone panels to create a table that fits your exact workspace. Start with one panel and add more as your shop grows.
